Join bird ecologist Brooks Hart in this bird walk at one of the most diverse birding spots close to town. Due to the combination of oak and pine forests, water, and nearby cliffs, you are sure to see a variety of resident species along with some late-season migrants.
Directions: From Flagstaff, take Matterhorn Drive and turn onto Lugano Way. Follow the road to the cul-de-sac where we will meet.
What to Bring: Binoculars, water, snacks, sturdy boots, and clothing appropriate for the weather. Parts of the trail can be rocky.
About the Location: Elden Spring sits along the slopes of Mount Elden and offers a mix of ponderosa pines, oak woodlands, and canyon habitats. Due to its south-facing slopes, it is often warmer than other birding areas in the vicinity and therefore attracts a variety of forest and woodland bird species.
